Amazon profit calculator: what each sale leaves you

An Amazon selling price is only the starting point. Estimate what remains after product cost, packaging, freight, selling fees, fulfillment, advertising and an allowance for returns. SKUHarbor uses your own inputs rather than automatically selecting an Amazon fee schedule.

How to estimate Amazon profit

Contribution per unit = selling price − manufacturing − packaging − inbound freight − fulfillment − percentage selling fee − fixed transaction fees − advertising − returns allowance. Divide contribution by selling price and multiply by 100 to get contribution margin. Monthly overhead and income tax are separate.

FBA and seller-fulfilled orders

For Fulfillment by Amazon, enter the fulfillment charge that applies to your product. For seller-fulfilled orders, enter your own shipping and handling cost. Fees can vary by category, size, weight and service. Check your Seller Central fee preview or Amazon revenue calculator before using a figure; the shampoo-bar example is illustrative.

A worked product example

At a $12.99 price, a hypothetical 15% fee is $1.9485. With $1.50 manufacturing, $0.35 packaging, $0.20 inbound freight, $3 fulfillment, $1 advertising and $0.25 returns allowance, contribution is $4.7415, or about $4.74 per sale. Contribution margin is about 36.5%. This is an example, not an Amazon fee quote.

Do not confuse ACOS with advertising per unit

The free calculator needs advertising dollars per unit across all sales. If you spend $300 and sell 150 total units, enter $2. ACOS uses ad-attributed revenue and has a different denominator. The paid toolkit adds a dedicated advertising planner, overhead estimates and inventory reorder planning.
